Community Health Workers
Perinatal Community Health Workers are available for every prenatal patient at Jericho Road. They meet with each OB patient to complete SDOH screening, linkage to community resources, and referrals for identified needs. Community Health Workers ensure our patients stay connected to care by following them throughout their pregnancy and immediate postpartum period. Our CHWs also provide additional education to patients, focusing on breastfeeding, prenatal nutrition, and baby care.
Doulas
On-staff birth doulas are available for any Jericho Road OB patient who would like one, free of charge. Doulas can provide emotional and mental support, physical comfort, breastfeeding support, and advocacy and communication. Research shows that doulas are linked to better birth outcomes, including shorter labors, lower rates of cesarean births, reduced use of epidurals, fewer complications during delivery, and higher rates of spontaneous vaginal birth.
Lactation Support
Jericho Road is a Breastfeeding Friendly Medical Practice, designated by the NYS Department of Health. We encourage all to breastfeed and provide breastfeeding support to those who need it. Certified Lactation Counselors are available to meet with patients one-on-one in-clinic or virtually. Weekly breastfeeding support groups are offered in English and Burmese.
Car Seat Safety
Our team of Certified Child Passenger Safety Technicians (CPSTs) work to ensure that every child is safe in the car, starting at birth. With funding from the Governor Traffic Safety Committee (GTSC), we are able to provide car seat education in 12 different languages and free car seats to eligible families.
