Residency Programs

About the Program

We are excited to offer a family medicine residency track within the University at Buffalo’s family medicine residency program. In this track, you will spend three years at our Breckenridge Street health center, where you will complete your outpatient clinic visits. You will also provide adult inpatient, obstetrics, and newborn care to Jericho Road patients at Buffalo General Medical Center and Oishei Children’s Hospital, all supervised by Jericho Road providers. During your second or third year, you will have the opportunity to participate in our global medical work in Sierra Leone, the Democratic Republic of Congo, or Nepal.

We accept four residents per year. Our first class started with us in July 2019. You can read more about our faculty and staff, facilities, and training expectations on the University at Buffalo’s family medicine residency website.

Why do we have a residency program?
We believe it is our duty to train, equip, and invest in the next generation of family physicians, not only to sustain the mission of Jericho Road, but to build a better healthcare system overall. We believe we have a good model of providing holistic, patient-centered medical care that students and residents can learn from. Our hope is that residents who train with us will then spread the same mission and vision to the rest of Western New York, to other parts of America, and even to other parts of the world.

Why train with Jericho Road?
We offer a unique and diverse learning environment, and provide high-quality, holistic, and full-spectrum medical care to our patients. Our family medicine residents are part of an integrated, team-based approach to care and are welcomed by a diverse staff family that represents over 50 countries.

Why choose to see a resident at Jericho Road?
University at Buffalo Family Medicine Residency is a highly competitive program with over 2,000 applicants each year. Residents are scheduled so that they can spend more time with their patients during each visit. Residents are supervised by an established physician during every aspect of their training, essentially providing patients with the care of two physicians at each visit.
