Jericho Road Community Health Center

Jericho Road provides health care and supportive services in Buffalo, NY, and around the world.

Thank you Direct Relief! We are incredibly grateful to Direct Relief for their unwavering support during these challenging times. Direct Relief has issued a $25,000 emergency grant to help Jericho Road’s Wellness Clinic in Goma, Democratic Republic of Congo, continue providing life-saving healthcare amid escalating violence and unrest. This urgently important aid will support the local purchase of critical emergency medical products, including antibiotics, essential supplies, and chronic disease management medicines. This will help us cover the immediate medical needs for clinic patients until regular shipments are able to reach our team in Goma. The clinic, which offers essential health services, has seen an increase in patients, many of whom are internally displaced persons, or IDPs. Hundreds of thousands of people who have been displaced due to unrest were living in IDP camps surrounding Goma until recently, but the camps have been evacuated and destroyed, displacing people yet again as Goma and surrounding areas have been impacted by recent unrest from rebel groups. Our staff have been sleeping at the clinic to make sure they can provide services consistently to patients in need, as transportation to and from the clinics has been interrupted by military checkpoints. The Goma airport has been closed since the city was captured by the M23 militia at the end of January, preventing the regular flow of supplies to The Wellness Clinic. The banks also remain closed and there is a curfew in the evenings. The situation is very tense and at times explosive.Despite these challenges, Jericho Road remains committed to serving our community, and Direct Relief’s support is a beacon of hope in these dark times. This partnership is not new—Direct Relief has stood by Jericho Road since 2016, supporting us through outbreaks like Ebola and Mpox, and now, during this humanitarian crisis. Thank you, Direct Relief, for your compassion, generosity, and commitment to making a difference in the lives of those who need it most. ... See MoreSee Less
